自2月起入侵烏克蘭後，俄羅斯就一直遭遇烏克蘭方嘅頑強抵抗而蒙受重大損失，俄羅斯坦克亦成為烏克蘭方重點打擊對象，有消息指俄羅斯已經於烏克蘭失去至少700輛坦克，歐美國家對俄羅斯嘅制裁亦限制其修理、準備新型坦克嘅能力。於是近日就有報導指，俄羅斯從倉庫中搬出啱啱五十年歷史、於冷戰時期建造嘅T-62戰車進駐烏克蘭。

據《The Warzone》引述Twitter 「Ukraine Weapons Tracker」報導，俄羅斯軍方近日派駐多輛T-62M及T-62MV坦克，進駐烏克蘭東南部城市梅利托波爾(Melitopol)。T-62坦克是蘇聯於冷戰時代為應付美國M-48戰車而開發，於1961年開始投產，到1972年期間大約生產咗22,700輛。而據英國智庫國際戰略研究所 (International Institute for Strategic Studies，IISS) 估計，俄羅斯嘅倉庫中大概有10,000輪戰車及8,500輛裝甲車，其中2,500輛為T-62坦克。

IISS亦估計，俄羅斯倉庫中，應有唔少比T-62先進嘅戰車，所以唔明點解俄羅斯會選擇拎50年前嘅產物出黎用。而《The Warzone》就估計，因應國際制裁，俄羅斯難以取得新型坦克所需嘅先進部件，維持新型坦克戰力變得越黎越難，反而如T-62等科技程度較低嘅戰車變得更為方便。
